Places with common interests

Sometimes we want to go where there are people who share our interests. The "gearheads" all want to talk about cars. The "crafters" all want to share about their latest project. And don't even get the Cubs fans started. It will all be about next year. This isn't the place you go where everybody knows your name. This is the place you go where everybody speaks your language.

To nurture community at every level possible, we try to get people together based on common interests. This will at least give them something to talk about as they work to build a relationship together. Sometimes this is easier than getting together with a group that is a mix of people. In both cases, the common goal is to progress on their journey toward God. But doing that with someone whom I share an interest with is a "jump start" to creating spiritual community.

These types of groups are always changing as common interests are identified. While we have the obvious types of common interests, we are always looking for other ways to bring people together. After all, it's the relationships we are striving for. Our journey toward God was designed to be done with others. So let's find others and get on our way.
